Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will kick off on 31st March 2023, the opening match is between defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) will play their opening game in the IPL 2023 against Mumbai Indians on April 2, in Bengaluru.
Mohammed Siraj was retained by RCB for the IPL 16, Siraj recalled in the podcast how he managed trollers in the last IPL season in 2022.
Speaking in the RCB podcast, Siraj recalled-
“It’s easy to write and abuse while sitting behind a screen, but you don’t know anything about his struggle. How can you abuse him? Those messages can make a person lose all his motivation. For no reason, you get abused,” said the Indian speedster.
In the last edition of IPL, Faf du Plessis-led RCB reached the playoff round but eventually were eliminated by Rajasthan Royals, and the Banglore-based side finished at the fourth spot in IPL 2022.
“Why? What next? They would make you the future of India one day and the very next day they would ask you to get lost and drive an auto. Why? I don’t understand it. When you do well, people praise you calling you the next big thing,” he further added.
In IPL 2022, for RCB, the Hydreabad-born cricketer took nine wickets in 15 matches. He has been retained before the 2022 edition for INR 7 crore by the Banglore franchise.
“When I was retained, people would call me the best-retained player. Now they are asking me why I was retained? ‘There was no need for you to get retained. You are not even good enough to play cricket.” stated the right-arm pacer.
So far, M. Siraj in his IPL career has scalped 59 wickets in 65 games at an economy rate of 8.78. He made his IPL debut in the 2017 edition for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Since 2018, he has been the constant pillar for RCB in their bowling lineup.
The speedster will look to bounce back strongly as RCB aim to lift their maiden IPL trophy in 2023. As he is in good form, M. Siraj recently became the ODI world NO.1 bowler as the 29-year-old collected 37 wickets from the last 20 50-over format matches.
