Indian team today lifted the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, by 2-1 as the last Test match got drawn at Ahmedabad. On Day 4, star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer didn’t come to bat and the Men in Blue innings ended on 571/9. Iyer is also the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2023.
Former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chorpa expressed that Asian Giants will not be affected that much by the right-handed batter’s injury, as KKR will face if he doesn’t get fit for IPL 16.
Shreyas Iyer’s back issue is becoming a recurring problem now. Team India may still cope with it but KKR will be sweating out on his fitness. They have no backup available for Shreyas and things aren’t looking good for them,” former Indian cricketer said.
In the IPL 2022, Shreyas Iyer-led KKR finished at the seventh spot in the points table with six wins and eight losses out of 14 matches it played in the season.
The star Indian batter missed the entire 50-over format series against New Zealand at the start of this year and also the first Test against Australia because of a back injury, he later replaced Surya Kumar Yadav for the 2nd Test match at Delhi. While in BGT 2023, Iyer scored 42 runs in three test matches he played.

People started abusing KS Bharat after a few poor games. Did you see those two sixes of Cameron Green’s bowling? He is good enough with the bat and so we shouldn’t judge anyone so soon,” stated Chopra for the Indian wicketkeeper performance in BGT 2023.
